As the Downtown Guelph Business Association (DGBA) launches its Spirit of the Season festival for the third year running, the heart of the celebration is its partnership with the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s Keep Kids Fed at Home program.

What is Keep Kids Fed at Home?                    
Keep Kids Fed at Home (KKFH) is a program of the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, aimed at bridging the weekend and holiday hunger gap for students. KKFH collaborates closely with Guelph elementary schools to identify students who are severely food insecure, and then provides them with weekend food bags and grocery gift cards during the holidays. On average, KKFH provides weekend food support to over 500 children per week during the school year.

The funds raised through Spirit of the Season will go directly to providing the take-home food bags for severely food insecure kids right here in Guelph, giving their families peace of mind during difficult times.

How to Support
Here are some ways you can support during Spirit of the Season:

·        Visit the Children’s Foundation booth during the indoor marketplace hours, hosted at Old Quebec Street Shoppes. You can learn more about the Children’s Foundation’s Keep Kids Fed at Home program, as well as:

o   Purchase one-of-a-kind handmade bags from the Better Bag Project to help raise funds for the program

o   Make a monetary donation to help provide take-home food bags to severely food insecure kids in our community

o   Bring a new roll of wrapping paper to donate to the Children’s Foundation’s Adopt-A-Family program

o   Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of many different gift baskets, generously donated by local businesses

o   Pick-up a Trees for Tots candle to help support the Children’s Foundation’s programs
